On June 24, a series of powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela, leading to the tragic discovery of model Skarlent Rodriguez, a former beauty pageant contestant, found dead at the scene.

Entertainment outlet HOLA! USA reported that Rodriguez, who held the title of Miss Grand Orlando 2025, and her boyfriend Jose Castro were found deceased in the rubble of a collapsed apartment in Catia La Mar, La Guaira State, Venezuela.

The couple had been missing since the earthquakes hit. Local media and family sources confirmed that search efforts concluded on the night of June 29, with both bodies discovered at the same location.

Miss Grand International took to Instagram to express condolences for Rodriguez’s passing, offering comfort to her family and the Venezuelan people. Miss Grand Florida also paid tribute to Rodriguez, describing her as a woman of elegance, kindness, and strength.

Reuters reported that Venezuela experienced two earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude within a minute of each other on June 24.

Venezuelan authorities have updated the death toll from these earthquakes to 2,295. The number of injured has exceeded 11,200, with tens of thousands still estimated to be missing.
