Lotte Department Store is set to make waves in the retail industry with an exclusive BLACKPINK X Tamagotchi collaboration pop-up store, the company announced on Tuesday.
The pop-up will run from July 30 to August 5 in the basement level of Lotte World Mall in Jamsil. Fans can expect a treasure trove of 28 different collaborative items featuring the intellectual property (IP) of global sensation BLACKPINK.
The star attractions include limited-edition Tamagotchis and character keychains showcasing BLACKPINK members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. The pop-up will also unveil an array of merchandise, from the BLACKPINK Original Tamagotchi to hats, T-shirts, and bags.
This innovative collaboration marries the global appeal of a K-pop powerhouse with the nostalgic charm of a ’90s toy icon, targeting the spending power and retro cravings of millennials and Gen Z.
Exclusive to the Jamsil pop-up are the coveted BLACKPINK member character keychains. Fans can try their luck with the limited-edition Plush Keychain Blind Boxes, each containing one of eight possible designs.
As Jamsil cements its status as a shopping hotspot for international tourists, this global K-pop IP serves as a magnet, drawing overseas fans to brick-and-mortar stores.
Choi Yoon-seok, Lotte Department Store’s content division chief, explained that they’ve crafted a pop-up experience that caters to a diverse audience, from die-hard fans in their 20s and 30s to international visitors, by fusing the kidult trend with a global artist’s intellectual property (IP). It’s committed to expanding the IP-based content offerings to keep delivering unique experiences.
