Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League (EPL) eked out a nail-biting victory against Sydney Football Club (FC) (Australia). Yang Min-hyeok squandered a golden opportunity.

On Wednesday, Tottenham clashed with Sydney in a preseason friendly at Sydney Stadium. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Spurs clinching a 4-2 win in the ensuing penalty shootout.

Sydney, fresh off victories against MK Dons (England) and Auckland (New Zealand) with scores of 1-0 and 2-0 respectively, was looking to extend their preseason winning streak to three games.

However, the match proved to be a tough challenge for both sides.

Spurs drew first blood in the 29th minute of the first half with a sublime free-kick from Mathys Tel, only to see their lead evaporate when Sekine Takahiro equalized in the 9th minute of the second half.

Tottenham had their chances to seal the deal in regulation time.

Second-half substitute Yang found himself with a gilt-edged opportunity in the 24th minute of the second half. After latching onto a cross from Andy Robertson, he had the goal at his mercy but fluffed his lines, sending the ball wide.

The miss was so agonizing that Yang and his teammates could only clutch their heads in disbelief.

This marks Yang’s second crucial miss of the preseason, following a similar open-goal blunder against MK Dons on July 23rd.

Despite these setbacks, Yang has featured in all three of Tottenham’s preseason fixtures, consistently catching the eye of manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Tottenham’s preseason tour continues as they jet off to Hong Kong for their fourth friendly against Chelsea on August 1.
