Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, has shattered box office records with its North American opening weekend.

Box Office Mojo reports that as of Tuesday, the latest Spider-Man installment raked in a staggering 360.09 million USD during its debut weekend in North America.

This monumental haul surpasses the previous record of 357 million USD set by Avengers: Endgame in 2019, crowning it as the highest-grossing opening weekend in North American history. The film also outperformed its predecessor, Spider-Man: No Way Home, by approximately 100 million USD, which had earned 260 million USD in 2021.

Globally, including North America, the film’s opening weekend revenue soared to an impressive 932.09 million USD. This places it second in the all-time worldwide opening rankings, just behind Avengers: Endgame. It decisively overtook the previous second-place holder, Avengers: Infinity War, by a whopping 290 million USD, as that film had earned 640.5 million USD.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which hit U.S. theaters on July 29, follows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as he grapples with a mysterious adversary who remembers his secret identity. Complicating matters, Parker gains uncontrollable powers due to DNA mutations, thrusting him into deeper turmoil as he battles new threats to protect his loved ones. This high-octane action blockbuster marks the franchise’s return after a five-year hiatus since Spider-Man: No Way Home. The star-studded cast features Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, Hailee Steinfeld, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramel Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. At the helm is Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on the Marvel hit Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
