BLACKPINK (Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, Lisa) marks a significant milestone as they celebrate their 10th anniversary.

The quartet burst onto the K-pop scene on August 8, 2016, with their debut single album SQUARE ONE, featuring the double title tracks “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” Since then, they’ve dominated charts with a string of hits including “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” “Pink Venom,” and “Shut Down,” cementing their status as global pop sensations.

In a groundbreaking achievement, BLACKPINK’s 2022 sophomore studio album BORN PINK simultaneously topped both the Billboard 200 and the UK Official Albums Chart, making them the first Asian female act to accomplish this feat.

Their album sales have seen exponential growth. Their first full-length album, THE ALBUM, broke records as the first million-seller by a K-pop girl group. BORN PINK surpassed 3 million copies sold by March 2023. Their latest mini-album DEADLINE, released in February, moved an impressive 1.77 million units in its debut week.

BLACKPINK’s digital footprint is equally impressive. In February, their official YouTube channel became the first music artist channel to surpass 100 million subscribers. As of August 8, the channel’s total views have skyrocketed past 42.6 billion.

The group’s live performances have grown increasingly ambitious. Their BORN PINK world tour drew approximately 1.8 million fans, while the recently concluded DEADLINE tour spanned 33 shows across 16 cities. BLACKPINK has graced iconic venues like SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and London’s Wembley Stadium.

BLACKPINK’s festival appearances have been equally historic. After their 2019 Coachella debut, they returned in 2023 as the first Asian artists to headline the prestigious event. That same year, they became the first K-pop act to headline BST Hyde Park in London.

YG Entertainment, which manages BLACKPINK, reflected on the group’s journey: BLACKPINK’s decade-long trajectory has dramatically expanded the scope of K-pop. Through their music and performances, they’ve become true cultural icons, wielding immense influence across the entire spectrum of popular culture.

To commemorate their anniversary, all four BLACKPINK members will reunite for a fan event in Seoul. This marks their first joint appearance at a domestic fan gathering since their DEADLINE world tour stop in Goyang last July, approximately 13 months ago.
