The film Odyssey continues its unstoppable box office success in its second week of release.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network, Odyssey surpassed 800,000 advance ticket sales as of 1:01 p.m. (Korean time) on Wednesday.

This figure significantly outpaces the 430,000 pre-sale tickets recorded just a day before its release, garnering even more attention. Contrary to the typical trend of declining ticket sales in the second week, Odyssey is showing a steep increase in advance bookings compared to pre-release numbers, demonstrating the film’s explosive word-of-mouth popularity.

Moreover, Odyssey has dominated the box office, maintaining the top spot in overall advance ticket sales for ten consecutive days, holding the number one position at the box office for seven days straight, and achieving an impressive 64.1% seat occupancy rate during its opening weekend (July 7-9). These overwhelming figures have industry insiders eagerly anticipating the film’s performance in its second week.

Odyssey follows the epic journey of Odysseus (Matt Damon), the hero who led the Greeks to victory in the decade-long Trojan War, as he struggles to return home to his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland ) during the king’s absence. The film has been breaking records since its release, reaching 1 million viewers on its fourth day and 2 million on its sixth day. By Tuesday, it had amassed a total of 2,368,655 viewers.

In related news, director Christopher Nolan and lead actor Matt Damon are set to appear on tvN’s popular show “You Quiz on the Block” at 8:45 p.m. (Korean time) this Wednesday. They’re expected to share behind-the-scenes anecdotes and discuss their personal connections to Odyssey, offering viewers a deeper look into the making of this blockbuster hit.
