Singer Lim Young Woong and his agency Mulgogi Music recently donated 200 million KRW (approximately 145,000 USD) to the Community Chest of Korea under the name of his fan club, Hero Generation. The donation aims to help residents affected by the severe flooding in southern South Korea.

The Community Chest of Korea announced on Monday that this contribution will be used through their 2026 Flood Damage Special Fund to provide emergency relief, temporary housing assistance, damage recovery, and support for daily life restoration to victims in southern areas, including Geoje and Tongyeong.

The recent downpours have disrupted the lives of many residents in the southern region. Lim expressed his heartfelt concern for those who have lost valuable possessions and are facing uncertainty due to the sudden floods. Through this donation, he hopes to help affected residents quickly return to their normal lives.

Since 2021, Lim has consistently made charitable contributions during holidays, his birthday, and in times of disaster. Including this latest donation, his contributions through the Community Chest of Korea total 2.5 billion KRW (about 1.8 million USD). When factoring in the additional 200 million KRW (about 145,000 USD) he personally donated to Korea University Medical Center for his birthday this year, his total charitable giving reaches an impressive 2.7 billion KRW (about 1.96 million USD).

The ongoing philanthropic efforts of the artist, coupled with the voluntary participation of his fans, have fostered a culture of giving that serves as an inspiration to many. In Geoje, one of the areas affected by the recent floods, the local chapter of his fan club, Hero Generation Geoje, also made a donation to a local welfare foundation to commemorate Lim’s 10th debut anniversary.

Lim’s 10th anniversary celebration extends beyond charitable giving to include performances and new music. He is set to hold a solo concert series titled IM HERO – THE STADIUM 2 at Goyang Sports Complex from September 4 to 6.

The Community Chest of Korea is currently running its 2026 Flood Damage Special Fund campaign until September 15 to support residents and areas affected by the recent flooding in the southern region. Those interested in contributing can do so through a dedicated fund account listed on the Community Chest of Korea’s website.

The Community Chest has a long-standing tradition of supporting recovery efforts for victims of large-scale natural disasters. To assist with flood relief, they raised 12.9 billion KRW (about 9.34 million USD) in 2023 and over 17.5 billion KRW (about 12.68 million USD) last year, funds that were used to aid affected regions and residents.
