Japanese Rescene member Minami, who revealed her entire family are TWICE fans, met with her idol Sana in a heartwarming YouTube encounter.
The YouTube channel “Daily Seven” released an episode titled “Sana’s Cool Interview: Minami’s Dream★ Comes True | EP.22 Rescene (Minami Edition)” on Thursday.
The video, featuring the trendy “gal” Minami alongside her role model, TWICE’s Sana, hit 1 million views in less than 24 hours. Despite its nearly hour-long runtime, the impressive viewership demonstrated the duo’s star power.
Minami flew her mother and younger sibling from Japan to witness the YouTube shoot. During the video, she confessed that they’re a one-roof ONCE family. She added that her father, unable to join, is such a devoted fan that he attended a concert by Misamo, TWICE’s all-Japanese subunit, solo.
Proving her superfan status, Minami aced TWICE’s official fanchants, including the notoriously challenging “YES OR YES” cheer, and a TWICE member face recognition test. She particularly wowed Sana by correctly naming the 2016 TWICE B-side “Touch Down,” released when Minami was just 10.
After showcasing her fan credentials, Minami bashfully quipped that if it wants to see her in person, please don’t. It might have a heart attack. She added with a laugh that just think of her as a hardcore otaku.
As their rapport grew, the pair shared some personal reflections. Minami opened up about her frustrations: Even when she works hard, things don’t always go well. She wants to improve, but it’s frustrating when she can’t. She quickly put things in perspective, adding that her struggles aren’t that big a deal; she’s not alone in this. Sana offered words of encouragement, saying that it seems like those who think that way are the ones who succeed.
The interview concluded on a lighthearted note, with Sana shyly mimicking Minami’s signature catchphrase “Yaho,” eliciting smiles from both.
