Actor Im Si Wan is set to take center stage at the closing night of the 31st Busan International Film Festival.
The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) organizers announced on Friday that Im has been tapped as the sole host for the closing ceremony, scheduled for October 15 at the Busan Cinema Center.
The closing event will feature the Busan Awards ceremony, a newly established competitive section introduced last year. This year’s competition boasts 14 Asian films vying for top honors, with the grand prize winner earning eligibility for submission to the International Feature Film category at the Academy Awards.
Im Si Wan, who first rose to fame in 2010 as a member of the K-pop group ZE:A, transitioned to acting in 2012 with the hit drama “Moon Embracing the Sun.” His impressive filmography includes notable works such as “The Attorney,” “The Merciless,” and the critically acclaimed drama series “Misaeng.” Im is also set to appear in the highly anticipated second and third seasons of Netflix’s global phenomenon “Squid Game,” as well as the upcoming film “The Mantis.”
The 31st Busan International Film Festival is slated to run from October 6 to 15 at the Busan Cinema Center. While actress Kim Min Ha will host the opening ceremony, Im Si-wan will take the reins for the festival’s grand finale.
