D.O. of EXO is set to make his solo comeback.
The multi-talented artist will drop his fourth solo mini-album, DOPAMINE, on digital platforms at 6:00 p.m. (KST) on Tuesday. This marks his first release since last September’s digital single “DUMB.” The new extended play (EP) explores the sudden rush of excitement and love in everyday life through five tracks, showcasing D.O.’s evolving musical style.
The title track, “Guitarist,” fuses rhythm and blues (R&B) and soul, using guitar riffs as a metaphor for the spark and connection between two people. D.O.’s signature nuanced delivery perfectly captures the song’s emotional depth and exhilaration.
The EP also boasts a diverse range of genres, from the upbeat band sound of “Sing It Loud” to the catchy acoustic guitar-driven “Dancing Party,” the funk-infused “Don’t You,” and the heartfelt ballad “Dear.”
This release marks D.O.’s return to solo work after about a year of focusing on EXO activities. Following the group’s military hiatus, EXO regrouped and kicked off their comeback with the fan meeting EXO’verse late last year. They followed up with their eighth studio album REVERXE in January and embarked on their sixth world tour, EXO PLANET #6 – EXhOrizon, reconnecting with fans globally.
During this period, individual projects for EXO members, including D.O., took a backseat. Apart from his stint on the tvN variety show “GBRB: Farm Operation – Go Go Farm” from late last year to this summer, D.O. primarily engaged with the public as part of EXO. After wrapping up EXO’s Singapore concert in July, he’s now ready to shift gears back to his solo career, starting with DOPAMINE.
Fans got a taste of what’s to come with the recent release of the “Guitarist” music video teaser. The clip showcases the song’s infectious rhythm and fresh vibe, hinting at D.O.’s stylish new direction. K-pop enthusiasts are particularly excited to see how D.O.’s solo work will reflect his growth and experience from recent EXO activities, adding to the buzz surrounding his comeback.
Following the release, D.O. will promote “Guitarist” and is set to embark on a solo concert tour, much to the delight of his fans.
