On Wednesday, Cube Entertainment announced that Yuqi will drop her second solo mini-album 二十七 (27) on October 8. This marks Yuqi’s return to solo work after a 13-month hiatus since her single “Motivation” last September, instantly sparking fan excitement.
The album title symbolizes Yuqi turning 27 this year. The artwork teaser includes an intriguing English text: At twenty-seven, like a sunflower turning away from its shadow to face only the sun, it’s a time when the brightest smile conceals the deepest thoughts, hinting at the album’s themes.
Yuqi’s solo comeback announcement comes as Soyeon’s solo album is riding a wave of success, drawing significant attention.
Soyeon released her first solo studio album Endless Life on September 7 and has been promoting the title track “I’m gonna TOESA (Narr. Kian84)”.
“I’m gonna TOESA” resonates with office workers, blending Soyeon’s signature wit with a catchy band sound. True to its concept, the song has struck a chord with working professionals, making a big splash on music charts.
Just ten days post-release, Soyeon’s track shot to #1 on the Melon chart on September 17 and has held the top spot since. It’s also dominating other major Korean music platforms like Genie and Bugs, showcasing its widespread appeal.
