TUIDE has been named Billboard’s K-Pop Rookie of the Month.
On Monday, Billboard announced on its official website that TUIDE, consisting of Seohee, Seoyeon, Elena, Jia, Saki, Sea, and Ihani, had clinched the title for September.
The American music publication highlighted TUIDE’s unique Soultronic genre, which blends warm rhythm and blues (R&B) vibes with sophisticated electronic sounds.
Billboard praised TUIDE’s approach, noting that rather than adhering to a formula, TUIDE’s music showcases the distinct personalities of its seven members in a way that’s uniquely theirs. Each voice maintains its individuality while harmonizing naturally. This interplay is crucial to the songs’ appeal.
In a Billboard interview, TUIDE discussed their debut album, TUNE & PLAY. The group explained that it aimed to showcase its diverse appeal through music that blends various sounds rather than sticking to one genre. The title track “SUN KISS” encourages listeners to trust their instincts and move forward.
The members added that during recording, the producers carefully considered each of the vocal tones, ensuring the individual strengths shine in every track.
Looking ahead, TUIDE expressed their ambition: It wants to be the group that keeps people guessing what’s next. It hopes fans will continue to anticipate the future projects.
TUIDE, comprising Seohee, Seoyeon, Elena, Jia, Saki, Sea, and Ihani, made their debut on August 24 under HYBE’s new label, ABD.
