The South Korean League of Legends (LoL) national team kicked off their 2026 Asian Games campaign with a convincing win against Taiwan in the group stage on Wednesday.
In their Group B opener at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Japan, the Korean squad dominated Taiwan with a lopsided 20-5 kill score.
Korea’s lineup for the Taiwan match featured a star-studded roster: Zeus Choi Woo-jae (Hanwha Life Esports), Canyon Kim Gun-bu (Gen.G), Zeka Kim Gun-woo (Hanwha Life Esports), Gumayusi Lee Min-hyung (Hanwha Life Esports), and Keria Ryu Min-seok (T1). Notably absent was the legendary Faker Lee Sang-hyeok (T1).
The draft phase saw Korea lock in Olaf, Vi, Akali, Jhin, and Alistar, while Taiwan countered with Ambeza, Qiyana, Ryze, Draven, and Renata Glasc.
The match kicked off with an early mid-lane skirmish, but Korea quickly asserted their dominance, snowballing their lead to close out the game in a mere 26 minutes.
The LoL tournament at this year’s Asian Games features a single-elimination format in the group stage. Following their impressive debut, Korea is set to face India at 11:30 a.m. and Hong Kong at 2:00 p.m. to round out their group stage matches.
The results of these three group stage games will determine Korea’s semifinal berth and their group ranking. Should they advance, they’ll battle for a spot in the finals on October 1.
