Choreographer J-Black recently spilled the beans on creating the electrifying choreography for A2O Light’s hit single “NEON”.

On October 16, Studio Wagal Wagal’s YouTube channel dropped a video titled “Black Review: J-Black’s Custom Choreography for A2O Light’s ‘NEON’?! Stage Dance Breakdown”.

During the segment, J-Black dished that it was a wild ride, as he delved into the creative process behind NEON’s intro dance. He chuckled that typically, when he gets an idol choreography gig, he sends over a demo. The usual feedback is ‘Can you tone it down a notch?’ or ‘Let’s dial back the difficulty.’ But this time? Total 180.

For this demo, he continued that they came back asking to crank it up. He was like, Is this for real? So he went all out, ramping up the difficulty. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t a bit nervous. He added with a grin ghat they wanted his signature style for a girl group. He was thrown for a loop. He wondered if they’d actually seen him dance!

J-Black couldn’t stop raving about A2O members Aiching and Siri’s dance chops. When he first hit the studio with Aiching and Siri, he was blown away. They showed real potential to nail this. He stressed that a choreographer can train and create all day, but it’s the performers who need to bring it home.

Riding high on the public’s reaction, J-Black admitted ghat he was so stoked, he couldn’t help but brag on social media, Yeah, that was all me. He mused that using his style in K-pop? It’s like they’re pushing the envelope, taking a leap of faith. He gushed that every bit of the choreography is fire. The dance alone is in a league of its own.

For those curious, J-Black (born Jo Jin-soo in 1982) is a Korea National Sport University alum. He shot to fame as a dancer and choreographer after stealing the spotlight on shows like Mnet’s “Dancing Nine”, “Hit the Stage”, and MBC’s “My Little Television”.
