North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inspected the construction sites for the Wihwa Island Greenhouse Complex Farm and the permanent flood control embankments in Sinuiju, an area that suffered flooding last year.

The official newspaper of the Workers’ Party, Rodong Sinmun, reported on its front page on August 2 that Kim had expressed great satisfaction during his visit to the construction site the previous day. He noted that the greenhouse farm project—unprecedented in its scale, originality, and comprehensiveness—was progressing according to schedule.

Kim visited the permanent embankment construction site in the island district of Uiju County, emphasizing that the flooding once deemed an inevitable fate by local residents is now a thing of the past. He remarked that the area’s transformation rivals that of Pyongyang’s Daedong River Banks, with promenades and riverside parks emerging, describing it as an epoch-making transformation.

Page 2 promoted Pyongyang’s Era of Prosperity, highlighting residential construction achievements, including those on Songhwa Street. The newspaper applauded Kim’s unwavering dedication to the people’s welfare, portraying it as a testament to the revolutionary spirit of the Workers’ Party and the nation’s steady progress.

Page 3 reported that construction sector officials were immediately applying lessons from a recent intensive training session to new projects. It also mentioned that women’s federation leaders and grassroots propagandists held a kick-off meeting for an expedition to revolutionary historical sites in the Mount Paektu area.

Page 4 covered the 9th Multilingual Listening and Speaking Competition for teacher training students, held at Kim Hyong Jik University of Education from July 28 to August 1. It also announced the commencement of the Hwaeppul Cup football match, detailing the group stage matchups.

Page 5 highlighted Nampo City’s ongoing school modernization efforts. It also reported on Yodok County’s initiatives to expand medicinal herb production, tailoring its efforts to local conditions to strengthen its ginseng production base. The Haesang Steel Plant was noted for achieving 140% of its average daily production targets.

Page 6 criticized the U.S. for conducting joint military exercises with South Korea and Japan, accusing it of escalating confrontational tensions through a reckless military frenzy. In a health advisory section, the newspaper listed foods known for their health benefits but potentially harmful if consumed improperly, including carrots, mackerel, anchovies, garlic, ginkgo nuts, and certain hardy fruits.
