
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un attended the national flag-raising ceremony commemorating the 77th anniversary of the country’s founding (Tuesday).
The official newspaper of the Workers’ Party, Rodong Sinmun, reported on Wednesday that Kim took part in the flag-raising ceremony and the central oath-taking meeting held to mark the 77th anniversary of the establishment of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). The event was conducted at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Tuesday.
The ceremony was graced by members of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the Central Committee, along with other party and government officials, delegates of the Supreme People’s Assembly, and military leaders.
According to the newspaper, honor guards from the Korean People’s Army, accompanied by the national flag, entered the venue. As the national anthem played, participants paid their respects to the flag.
After the ceremony, Kim led the commemorative oath. Under his guidance, senior officials pledged to defend the sovereignty of the DPRK, serve the state and its people, uphold the constitution, fulfill their legal duties, protect socialist ideology and institutions, and remain loyal to the homeland.
In his address, Kim extended warm congratulations to workers across the nation, soldiers of the People’s Army, and all families on this national holiday.
Significantly, Kim mentioned soldiers involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, stating that he pays his deepest respects to the heroes and patriots whose honorable contributions to the DPRK will forever be remembered. And that he also send a heartfelt combat salute to the military commanders, officers, and soldiers engaged in overseas operations, who are currently upholding the glorious flag.
Emphasizing North Korea’s distinctive brand of socialism, Kim commended the people’s steadfast commitment to protecting and advancing the socialist system. He urged to elevate the banner of socialism even higher and march robustly along the socialist path for future generations, ensuring they live with dignity and happiness in a strong and prosperous nation.
On the same day, Kim met with labor innovators and meritorious individuals invited to the celebration and took commemorative photographs with them.
