Still Building the City: Kim Jong Un Celebrates 76 Years of China’s Founding: What It Means for North Korea

Kim Jong Un, the General Secretary of North Korea’s Workers’ Party, sent a congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported on Wednesday that the message acknowledged the remarkable achievements of the Chinese people over the past 74 years. Under the leadership of the Communist Party, they have boldly overcome challenges to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity while building a modern socialist state.

The same page noted that Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui returned to Pyongyang after a 3-night, 4-day visit to China.

The front page emphasized the unity between the party and the people as the 78th anniversary of the party approaches. It lauded the Workers’ Party as a true people’s party and mother party, proclaiming that its cause will remain eternally victorious and invincible due to unwavering loyalty.

Page 3 reported on the delivery of Yemaeng-ho small tractors in Anbyon County for the party’s anniversary. It also covered the 24th National Lecture Competition, where party propagandists honed their skills to meet evolving needs.

The fourth page mentioned a September 30th event for the International Day of Older Persons at the Taedong River Diplomatic Corps Hall. It also highlighted ongoing research at the Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry’s Food Application Technology Research Institute to improve oil production at local food processing plants.

Page 5 showcased progress in the planting of autumn wheat and barley in North Hwanghae Province. The Bonghwa Chemical Factory announced advancements in valve recycling, with their patented wing-type heat exchange tube receiving acclaim.

The sixth page featured excerpts from Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Sun-kyung’s speech at the 80th United Nations (UN) General Assembly, reaffirming North Korea’s commitment to its nuclear program as a matter of national law, policy, sovereignty, and right to existence.
