South Korea will face North Korea, Uzbekistan, and Jordan in their group at the Under-20 (U20) Women’s Asian Cup, set to kick off in Thailand next April.
The draw for the 2026 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U20 Women’s Asian Cup took place on Monday in Bangkok, Thailand. Head coach Park Yoon-jung’s U19 women’s national team has been placed in Group B alongside North Korea, Uzbekistan, and Jordan.
The U20 Women’s Asian Cup is slated to run from April 1 to April 18 next year.
This tournament marks an expansion from its previous format, growing from eight participating nations to twelve. The competition will feature three groups of four teams, with the top two from each group and the two best third-placed teams advancing to the knockout stage.
The U20 Women’s Asian Cup will double as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2026 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) U20 Women’s World Cup, scheduled for September in Poland. The top four finishers in the Asian Cup will secure their spots in the World Cup.
The U19 women’s national team earned their place in the finals after a flawless qualifying campaign in August. They topped their group with three straight victories, defeating East Timor, Laos, and Bangladesh.
South Korea has a strong history in this tournament, having clinched the U20 Women’s Asian Cup title twice before, in 2004 and 2013. In the most recent edition held in 2024, they finished fourth.
