North Korea has initiated efforts to unite its youth as it commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Socialist Patriotic Youth Alliance.

The Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported on its January 18 front page that a grand choral performance titled, The Era of Kim Jong Un and Paektu Mountain Hero Youth was held on January 17. The event, featuring 5,000 members of the Paektu Mountain Hero Youth Shock Brigade, took place at the construction site of the Sinuiju Greenhouse Complex.

The newspaper proclaimed that the performance resonated with the immense pride and self-esteem of Korean youth as the heirs of the revolution and the protagonists of their era.

Page 2 covered a youth gathering at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang. The paper stated that the event amplified the revolutionary fervor and fighting spirit of young people nationwide, who are committed to accelerating the country’s comprehensive revitalization.

The third page featured articles highlighting youth patriotism. It boasted that over 26,000 young individuals across the country have volunteered for the most challenging construction projects since the 8th Workers’ Party Congress, claiming their efforts have further expedited the party’s revolutionary progress.

Page 4 included an article titled, The Greatest Transformation is the Revolutionary Growth of People. It detailed various economic achievements by South Hamgyong Province residents since the 8th Party Congress, urging others to follow their example.

The fifth page promoted e-sports, describing them as a novel form of athletic activity. The paper emphasized that e-sports require less physical prowess, allowing participation across age groups and genders without injury risks. It also highlighted how e-sports enhance cognitive abilities and concentration, enabling peak performance regardless of environmental conditions.

The sixth page emphasized Japan’s historical atrocities. It reported that visitors to the Central Class Education Hall expressed outrage over Japan’s past crimes, stressing the need for a stronger anti-imperialist class consciousness as generations change and the revolution progresses.
