North Korea is showcasing its economic achievements over the past five years as it prepares for the 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party, anticipated to take place in February.

On Monday, the Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, featured a front-page article titled, A Sacred Five Years that Ushered in a New Era of Comprehensive Development. The newspaper highlighted various accomplishments, notably the construction of 50,000 housing units in Pyongyang, boasting that the capital has transformed into a socialist utopia admired worldwide.

The second page reported on recent housing allocation ceremonies at farms such as the Cholliseong Farm in Daehung County and the Ryongrim and Lipseok Farms in Mundok County. The paper emphasized the regime’s people-first policy, claiming that the laughter of citizens in their new homes echoes endlessly.

Page 3 covered the 80th anniversary celebration of the Socialist Patriotic Youth Alliance, detailing participants’ visits to the Korean Revolution Museum and the Historical Museum of the Youth Movement. The newspaper noted that the youth solemnly reflected on the ongoing triumphs of their socialist cause while examining historical artifacts and documents.

The fourth page introduced The Red Register of Loyalty, an exhibit at the Korean Revolution Museum. The paper stated that this record, created over five decades ago by officials and workers at the Hyonghung Textile Factory in South Hamgyong Province, exemplifies the enduring legacy of loyalty and patriotism.

Key Issues in Enhancing the Driving Force of Science and Technology was the focus of page 5. The article highlighted the Ranam Coal Machinery Plant, noting that its leadership is prioritizing the modernization of processing equipment.

The final page reported on Kim Chaek University of Technology’s efforts to develop an advanced remote education system. According to the newspaper, the university is creating a platform that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and computer technologies to automatically assess student performance and provide tailored learning materials.
