North Korea is intensifying efforts to draft the conference resolution as the 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party enters its second week, with ongoing sectoral research and consultations.
The Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported on its front page on Wednesday that the 9th Congress is continuing substantive discussions. The paper noted that research and consultations are progressing in various sectors, including the economy, national defense, foreign affairs, and party activities.
According to the newspaper, Kim Jong Un, the General Secretary of the Party, directed discussions on sectoral strategies and plans based on the comprehensive report of the 8th Central Committee’s work and key conclusions. The consultations focused on developing scientific and rational plans to implement the overall goals and principles of the five-year strategy across all aspects of socialist construction. The results of these collective discussions are being incorporated into the draft of the conference resolution by the designated committee.
The front page also featured a congratulatory letter from the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan on Kim’s reelection. The group referred to Kim as the great leader of the Workers’ Party of Korea and pledged their loyalty.
Page 2 highlighted an anecdote about Kim sending educational books to the Pyongyang Orphanage and Children’s Home. It emphasized his teaching that while building orphanages and children’s homes is important, nurturing children without parents is even more crucial. The page also stressed the significance of party building, emphasizing the need for strengthening party organization and ideological unity.
The third page spotlighted preparations for a million-ton blast by party members at the Musan Mining Complex. It also reported on the commencement of a field trip for national labor union workers to revolutionary sites in the Paektu Mountain region and news from women’s union members in North Pyongan Province.
Page 4 encouraged emulating the life perspectives of socialist patriotic contributors. It introduced examples of a power plant foreman, a lecturer at the Revolutionary Museum, and farm workers. The page also reported on the achievements of the Central Mining Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences.
The fifth page focused on achievements in implementing the new rural revolution program and highlighted cases of scientific farming adoption. It also covered the agricultural material transportation accomplishments of the Hamhung Railway Bureau, the production of cutting machines at the Pyongchon Prefab Factory, and the opening of the 39th Kim Chaek University of Technology Science and Technology Festival.
