NorthKoreaTWILIGHT OF THE ARCHIPELAGO : Why The New Missiles In Kumamoto Are Triggering A Strategic Storm

North Korea recently issued a stark warning in response to Japan’s announcement of deploying new long-range missiles in Kumamoto Prefecture, cautioning that such actions could lead to the archipelago’s demise.

On Friday, Pyongyang voiced its stance through a Korean Central News Agency commentary titled, Regional Security Environment Deteriorates Due to Japanese Militarism.

The statement highlighted Japan’s recent deployment of the Type 12 surface-to-ship guided missile, boasting an extended range of 100 kilometers (about 62 miles), at the Ground Self-Defense Force base in Kumamoto. It also mentioned Tokyo’s plans to station additional long-range missiles in Shizuoka and Miyazaki Prefectures.

North Korea lambasted these moves, asserting that if implemented, Japan would effectively position missiles capable of targeting neighboring countries across its entire territory, describing it as a perilously aggressive military strategy.

The regime further noted that the Type 12 missile, which Japan is rapidly pushing to deploy, has undergone significant upgrades in recent years. These enhancements include a substantially increased range and the capability to launch from land, sea, and air platforms, effectively bringing all surrounding maritime areas within its strike zone.

Pyongyang questioned Tokyo’s motives, asking on does the continuous development and deployment of various long-range strike capabilities truly align with Japan’s proclaimed total defense strategy? The regime emphatically answered its own query, stating that it doesn’t. This is unequivocally part of war preparations aimed at re-invasion.

In a final admonition, North Korea warned that if Japan persists in its reckless and inappropriate actions, it will inevitably find itself embroiled in a catastrophic situation leading to the sinking of the archipelago.
