North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party, responded to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s congratulatory message, reaffirming the commitment to strengthen the traditional friendship between the two nations.

On Tuesday, the Workers’ Party’s official newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported that Kim had sent a reply the previous day, expressing gratitude for Lukashenko’s congratulations on his re-election as Chairman of the State Affairs Commission during the recent first session of the 15th Supreme People’s Assembly.

In his letter, Kim stated that in accordance with the spirit of the agreements reached during the summit in Pyongyang, the friendship between North Korea and Belarus will continue to develop dynamically to new heights.

Kim also extended his wishes for President Lukashenko’s health and the prosperity and well-being of the Belarusian people.

Recently, Kim and President Lukashenko elevated their bilateral relations to a new level by signing a comprehensive friendship and cooperation treaty during their summit in Pyongyang, encompassing wide-ranging political and economic collaboration.

Both leaders affirmed their commitment to jointly counter Western pressures while emphasizing the protection of national sovereignty and the establishment of a multipolar world order. This treaty is seen as part of North Korea’s strategy to expand ties with pro-Russian countries, including Belarus, in the context of strengthening North Korea-Russia relations and diversifying its diplomatic partnerships.
