Kim Jong Un Celebrates 105th Anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party: Strengthening North Korea-China Relations

On Wednesday, Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of North Korea’s Workers’ Party, sent a congratulatory message and floral tribute to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party’s founding. In his message, Kim emphasized the recently strengthened ties between the two nations and expressed his intention to further enhance their close relationship.

The Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, published the full text of Kim’s congratulatory message on its front page. Kim stated that it is the party’s and government’s unwavering position to continuously strengthen and develop the friendly relations between North Korea and China, centered on socialism.

Regarding the recent North Korea-China summit, Kim described it as a historic opportunity to reaffirm their comradeship and trust, and to further advance social development and traditional friendship between the two countries. The newspaper also reported that the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party sent a congratulatory floral tribute to the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Committee.

Page 2 covered the anniversary banquet held at the Chinese Embassy in Pyongyang on Tuesday. During the event, Wang Yajun, the Chinese Ambassador to North Korea, delivered a speech highlighting that President Xi Jinping and General Secretary Kim Jong Un have held seven historic meetings and maintained close strategic communication, expressing their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

The third page featured a report on the 80th anniversary ceremony of the People’s Economic University, which took place on Tuesday. Kim Jong-soo, the university’s president, emphasized the institution’s achievements in training numerous national economic management personnel over the past decade. The newspaper also noted that the 80th anniversary of the Korean Record and Science Film Studio was celebrated on the same day.

Page 4 introduced the stories of three labor heroes, Baek Pyung-geun, Heo Hong-gil, and Hong Sun-gwang, who volunteered at coal mines in their seventies. Despite their advanced age, these miners continue to work daily at the youth coal mining enterprise in the Sunchon area. The newspaper remarked that their unwavering commitment to contributing to the nation’s coal production, while consistently pursuing their path and achieving heroic results, embodies true patriotism.

An article on page 5 urged the enhancement of self-reliant development capabilities at the city and county level. It emphasized that cities and counties serve as regional hubs guiding local economies, stating that city and county party officials must fully dedicate themselves to implementing local development policies.

Page 6 featured an article titled, The Ever-Strengthening Communist Party of China. The piece highlighted the 105th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party, analyzing China’s intensified efforts to build a modern socialist state. It further spotlighted the party’s achievements and activities, reporting that it is advancing socialism with Chinese characteristics.
