U.S. military personnel recovered an anti-personnel landmine discovered in the northernmost region of the Imjin River area.
At approximately 9:25 a.m. (Korean time) on August 1, a civilian reported finding the mine along the Imjin River banks in Baekhak-myeon, Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province.
The mine, measuring roughly 12 cm (about 4.7 in) in diameter, is suspected to have been carried downstream from the north due to recent heavy rainfall.
Military forces promptly secured the mine from the location and issued a precautionary text alert to local residents, advising them to remain vigilant.
