On Tuesday, Park Yoon-young, officially appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at today’s shareholders’ meeting, announced plans to transform KT Corporation into an AX Platform Company leading the artificial intelligence (AI) era.

Immediately after taking office, Park sent a letter to employees stating that he has assumed the crucial role of KT’s CEO starting today. He’ll demonstrate results through swift action and execution rather than empty words and formalities.

He emphasized that the responsibilities for security, network, and quality are more critical than ever, and declared that he’ll develop KT into a national telecommunications operator responsible for both the present and future networks of South Korea, as well as an AX Platform Company spearheading the AI era.

Park identified solid fundamentals and assured growth as the two pillars driving this transformation.

It will first strengthen our core foundations, Park explained. It’ll enhance the security governance and operational systems while thoroughly reviewing the information technology (IT) network infrastructure from the ground up. It will also proactively prepare for future technologies such as 6G, satellites, and AI-Radio Access Network (AI-RAN) to maintain the leadership position.

He continued that next, it will focus on assured growth. In the consumer sector, it’ll evolve beyond basic communication services to offer AI-powered lifestyle solutions. In the business sector, it’ll bolster the business-to-business (B2B) AX offerings to address challenges in public services, finance, and manufacturing industries.

Park highlighted KT Professionalism as a core value.

People are always at the heart of every change, Park remarked. It must prioritize the customers, respect the colleagues, and commit to seeing the work through to completion. Let’s work together to create KT’s new future as an AX Platform Company, achieving robust growth on solid foundations.

KT held its 44th annual shareholders’ meeting on Tuesday at the KT Research and Development (R&D) Center in Seoul’s Seocho district, where it approved the appointment of Park Yoon-young as CEO.
