Cheil Worldwide said April 8 it has introduced “VariAid,” an artificial intelligence-based solution designed to automate banner ad variations and improve efficiency in digital advertising production.

VariAid was conceptualized by Cheil Worldwide and developed by AI visual content company Draph. The solution aims to streamline the process of adapting large volumes of online banner ads to meet different media platforms and format specifications, reducing both labor and costs.

Existing AI-based image generation tools often rely on web template formats, making it difficult to maintain campaign-specific visual tone and adhere to varying production guidelines such as font usage and spacing across platforms.

VariAid incorporates Draph’s proprietary visual language model (VLM) technology, enabling users to generate and adapt banner ads to platform-specific guidelines with minimal input.

The solution analyzes elements such as text and images within original banners and automatically produces optimized layouts tailored to each platform’s specifications.

It supports more than 80 advertising formats across major platforms including Google, Naver, Meta and Kakao, while also offering manual editing features. The company said VariAid is the first solution to fully optimize banner variations across all advertising placements on major domestic platforms such as Naver and Kakao.

In internal testing, banner ads generated through VariAid achieved a near 100% approval rate in review processes.

The company said the solution can reduce average production costs per banner by more than 90%, significantly cutting both time and expenses.

Cheil Worldwide plans to apply VariAid to existing client projects and expand its use globally in collaboration with Draph, tailoring the solution to Asia media environments for overseas subsidiaries.

A company official said the solution is expected to improve workflow efficiency by increasing both speed and accuracy, adding that the company will continue to introduce advanced technologies and data-driven solutions to enhance marketing efficiency and scalability for clients.
