Samsung Display Expands U.S. Recruitment to Secure Top Global Talent

Samsung Display hosted a Tech Forum in Los Angeles (LA) on Tuesday, inviting over 50 doctoral candidates to share its vision and organizational culture. The event, held in conjunction with Display Week, the world’s largest display industry gathering, aimed to engage top-tier talent from prestigious universities in the LA area.

The forum broke from traditional recruitment formats, opting for a more personalized networking approach. Senior executives and engineers dined with students, offering insights on how specific majors could synergize with actual job roles. Lee Joo-Hyung, Vice President and Head of the Small and Medium Business Division, delivered a keynote speech encouraging attendees to join the company’s journey in next-generation interface innovation, focusing on The Intersection of AI and OLED.

Samsung Display’s emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) as the forum’s main theme reflects the growing importance of on-device AI, which has elevated low-power, high-quality organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology as a crucial competitive advantage in hardware. Industry insiders report that the company is actively developing panel driving algorithms and sensor-integrated panels to maximize AI operating efficiency. This recruitment drive targets doctoral candidates with expertise in related software and circuit design.

A standout aspect of Samsung Display’s talent acquisition strategy is its expanded geographic focus. Moving beyond its previous West Coast-centric approach, the company will launch a series of recruitment meetings across the U.S. Starting in San Jose on May 7, the tour will include stops in Chicago, Boston, and Atlanta in June. This nationwide approach aims to proactively secure promising engineering talent across North America, potentially widening the technological gap with competitors.

Vice President Lee emphasized that in the AI era, people are the key to driving innovation in the display market. It hopes to attract talented individuals from around the world to help shape the future of Samsung Display.

Samsung Display continues to bolster its global recruitment efforts, including an annual executive-led tech forum in Japan every October. Over the past three years, these initiatives have successfully attracted hundreds of top talents from North America and Japan to the company’s recruitment events.
