Samsung Electronics announced on Thursday that it clinched the top spot in six categories in JD Power’s 2026 Home Appliance Customer Satisfaction Study. The categories include French door refrigerators, top freezer/bottom refrigerator models, side-by-side refrigerators, clothes dryers, over-the-range microwaves, and dishwashers.

Notably, the top freezer/bottom refrigerator category achieved the highest scores across all evaluation criteria for the fifth consecutive year.

The French door refrigerator excelled in five areas, including ease of use and design. The side-by-side refrigerator also topped five categories, including durability and reliability, leading Samsung to dominate all three refrigerator categories.

French door refrigerators feature two side-opening doors on top with a freezer compartment below. Top freezer/bottom refrigerator models follow a traditional layout with the freezer above and refrigerator below, while side-by-side models place the refrigerator and freezer compartments next to each other.

Samsung attributes its success to product designs and features that cater to practical American consumers. Their refrigerators boast Zero Clearance technology, creating a built-in look with just 4mm gaps on each side, and an ice maker offering four types of ice, enhancing space utilization and user convenience.

The clothes dryer swept all seven evaluation categories with top scores. It features artificial intelligence (AI) Customized Dry+ for optimized drying cycles, Multi Steam to reduce light wrinkles, and Steam Sanitize+ to eliminate up to 95% of fine pollen from fabrics.

The dishwasher secured the top spot with high marks for performance and value, while the over-the-range microwave excelled in durability and performance.

JD Power’s consumer satisfaction rankings for home appliance brands are based on a comprehensive evaluation of about 15,000 consumers who purchased these products in the past year. The assessment covers seven categories: durability, performance, ease of use, design, and reliability.

Michael McDermott, an executive at Samsung Electronics’ U.S. division, stated that topping six categories in this study underscores Samsung’s recognized quality and convenience in the discerning American market.
