A monument honoring North Korean troops who repelled Ukrainian forces in Russia’s Kursk region is set to be erected, according to a report by NK News, a U.S.-based media outlet focusing on North Korea, on December 6.

Kursk Governor Alexander Hinshtein revealed on his social media account on December 4 that the monument, commemorating the combat alliance between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Russia, will be installed in a city park with support from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The city of Kursk has reportedly allocated approximately 500,000 USD for the park renovation project.

Since October of last year, North Korea has deployed over 14,000 troops to the Kursk region and has sent additional personnel for infrastructure restoration efforts.

Meanwhile, North Korea is constructing a memorial in Pyongyang to honor its fallen soldiers deployed to Russia. On October 23, Kim Jong Un participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the War Heroes Memorial Hall, which aims to commemorate the eternal legacy of the combat heroes.
