Cosmecca said Wednesday it has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ “2026 Robotics Utilization Manufacturing Innovation Support Program,” and will move forward with building an AI-based autonomous manufacturing system.

Under the program, the company plans to carry out an eight-month project through November to establish a robot automation system worth $350,000.

At the core of the initiative is the introduction of an AI-powered mobile manipulator robot, known as MOMA (Mobile Manipulator), to implement an intelligent palletizing system.

The cosmetics original development manufacturing (ODM) industry typically relies heavily on manual labor in packaging and logistics due to its multi-product, small-batch production structure. Cosmecca said it aims to automate repetitive and labor-intensive packaging processes to improve efficiency and enhance worker safety.

The newly introduced MOMA robot is capable of autonomous navigation within factories and uses AI algorithms and vision cameras to recognize boxes and pallet conditions in real time. Based on this data, it performs optimal loading tasks and can flexibly respond to unstructured situations, such as changes in pallet positions or loading patterns.

The company expects the system to reduce worker burden and enable stable operations even in frequently changing production environments.

Cosmecca added that it will accelerate its smart factory strategy by expanding intelligent automation into packaging and logistics, following the implementation of a digital twin-based integrated production management system. The company said the initiative will help it respond more quickly to the diverse demands of global indie brands.

Chairman Cho Im-rae said the introduction of the AI-powered MOMA robot system will go beyond improving working conditions and drive innovation in logistics automation.

“We will continue to strengthen our competitiveness as a global OGM company by advancing our smart factory into an AI-based autonomous manufacturing system,” he said.
