North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during his visit to Pyongyang, reaffirming their commitment to strengthen North Korea-China relations.

North Korea’s state-run newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported on April 11 that Kim Jong Un had received Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister, in Pyongyang the previous day (April10).

During their meeting, Kim engaged in a comradely dialogue with Minister Wang, who conveyed greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping. Kim expressed his gratitude and asked Wang to relay his regards back to President Xi.

Kim emphasized the importance of deepening exchanges and contacts at various levels between North Korea and China, underscoring the need for further development of bilateral relations. According to the newspaper, he also conveyed North Korea’s stance on regional and international issues.

In response, Minister Wang expressed China’s intention to continue developing relations based on the consensus reached during last year’s North Korea-China summit.

Kim stated that its position of valuing and prioritizing the friendship between North Korea and China above all else is unwavering. He also emphasized his support for the One China principle and China’s domestic and foreign policies.

The newspaper reported that Kim wished China success in its socialist modernization and national rejuvenation under Xi’s leadership before bidding farewell to Minister Wang.
