Samsung Electronics held a home appliance technology seminar, The Brief New York, in the U.S. on April 15-16, showcasing an artificial intelligence (AI) driven home lifestyle, the company announced on Friday.

The event took place at the Connected Experience Center (CEC) showroom in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, targeting local media and influencers.

Samsung introduced the Home Companion scenario, which leverages AI-powered appliances to reduce household chores and enhance quality of life.

The company demonstrated innovative AI-based recognition technologies in refrigerators, ovens, and robot vacuums that offer practical conveniences for daily living.

Samsung’s 2026 Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator features AI Vision, which uses internal cameras to track food items in real-time. It recognizes fresh and processed foods, as well as container labels, automatically updating a Food List for efficient inventory management.

The Bespoke AI Oven includes AI Pro Cooking, minimizing user input while maximizing cooking quality. It identifies ingredients via internal cameras, suggests optimal cooking settings, and sends alerts through SmartThings to prevent burning.

Samsung has extended its advanced AI recognition technology to cleaning, enhancing both performance and user convenience. The 2026 Bespoke AI Steam Ultra robot vacuum combines red, green and blue (RGB) camera sensors with infrared light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to detect and clean or avoid transparent liquids.

The company also unveiled a new refrigerator lineup tailored to North American consumers’ preferences for large-capacity storage, hygiene, and space efficiency.

New features include Space Max for increased internal storage, an Auto-fill water dispenser, a Beverage Center with internal dispensers, and an Ice Maker offering six ice types, including cube and whiskey ball.

Samsung also showcased a French-door refrigerator with Zero Clearance technology, allowing seamless installation with just 4mm of side clearance.

The company highlighted its AI assistant Bixby, which processes complex voice commands for personalized appliance control, and Samsung’s proprietary Knox security solution, emphasizing connectivity and security in the smart home era.

Moon Jong-sung, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances Division, stated that Samsung’s AI appliances are evolving into home companions that understand and enhance consumers’ lives. It aims to capture the market with features tailored to North American lifestyles and the unique AI ecosystem.
