
In a recent report, North Korea highlighted the achievements of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League over the past five years, aiming to bolster young people’s loyalty to the party.
The Workers’ Party of Korea’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported on April 19 that since the 10th Congress of the Youth League, more than 240 primary (and sub-primary) youth league committees and over 550 young individuals have been awarded the Kim Il Sung Youth Honor Prize and the Kim Jong Il Youth Honor Prize. Additionally, 25 youths have been recognized as pioneers of Socialist Patriotic Youth, while 70,000 primary organizations nationwide have earned the distinction of being exemplary (2nd and 3rd level) primary units.
The newspaper also claimed that since the 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, youth enthusiasm for petitioning has significantly increased. It reported that youth league organizations and young people across the country are vigorously igniting the flames of socialist patriotic movements and revolutionary mass actions, determined to fulfill their honorable mission and responsibilities as pioneers of the great Kim Jong Un era.
On page 2, the newspaper proclaimed that through recent party plenary meetings, all party activities have been regularized and unity around the central leadership has been strengthened. This has reportedly enhanced the party’s leadership and combat effectiveness, brightening the prospects for the Korean revolution.
Page 3 featured an excerpt from the novel General Hyun Cheol-hae, which chronicles the life of Kim Jong Un’s mentor during his time as heir apparent. The newspaper urged readers to reflect on the unwavering principles of true loyalists when accepting revolutionary tasks from the party. It emphasized that differences in individuals’ determination to acquire necessary skills or persevere until achieving results clearly reflect varying levels of ideological and spiritual preparation.
The fourth page reported on officials and workers in North Pyongan Province providing comprehensive support for the Cheongdo Transportation Project. Their efforts have resulted in over 12,000 square meters of gravel replenishment, hundreds of kilometers of waterway organization, and 500 square meters (about 5,382 sqaure feet) of machinery repairs during the first quarter. The article also mentioned that scientific agricultural teams are working to mitigate the impact of ongoing drought on wheat and barley crops.
Page 5 highlighted the Spring Hygiene Month initiative, with communities actively engaging in environmental beautification projects to transform their surroundings into socialist paradises. The National Tourism Administration was recognized for effectively managing hygiene month activities.
The newspaper also reported on the positive reception of Home Cooking Handbook 2.0, a culinary knowledge program. It praised the program for offering a wide variety of categorized recipes and comprehensive information on dietary habits and cooking processes, calling it a friendly companion for homemakers striving to enhance their health and well-being.
The final page featured a family from a port area with nine military enlistment certificates, emphasizing the notion that only blood can settle scores. The article stressed the importance of maintaining a strong revolutionary spirit across generations to protect the lives and happiness of the people.
