Recent cyber attacks are occurring at machine speed, while companies defend at human speed, creating significant security risks. In the era of agentic AI, where artificial intelligence (AI) autonomously makes decisions and takes actions, cyber attacks are rapidly evolving based on AI. However, companies are struggling to keep pace with these advanced threats. Experts argue that building an integrated security platform is crucial to effectively counter these emerging dangers.

On Tuesday, global application service and cybersecurity firm F5 hosted the F5 AppWorld Seoul 2026 Media Roundtable at the Westin Seoul Parnas in Gangnam, Seoul.

During the event, Kuna Nalapan, F5’s Vice President of Marketing for the Asia-Pacific, China, and Japan regions, stressed the critical need for an AI-based security framework.

Nalapan highlighted that recent attacks happen at machine speed, while companies defend at human speed. He emphasized that traditional static firewalls are no longer sufficient to thwart real-time threats.

He further explained that if attacks are AI-driven and occur in real-time, defenders must also implement an AI-to-AI defense system that operates instantaneously.

F5 announced the launch of its official network for Distributed Cloud, a Software as a Service (SaaS) based integrated security platform. This initiative aims to respond to such sophisticated attacks and bolster comprehensive security measures.

Lee Hyung-wook, the head of F5 Korea, identified three key trends currently reshaping the information technology (IT) landscape: AI acceleration, cloud boundary dissolution, and amplified security threats.

Lee stated that as it enters the agentic AI era, technological advancements are accelerating at an unprecedented rate. He added that Korea is recognized as a strategic core market with top global priority.

He elaborated that the IT environment, once limited to public clouds, has now expanded to allow seamless access to IT assets anywhere, effectively erasing traditional boundaries.

Lee described the increasing adoption of hybrid cloud solutions, which blend internal servers (on-premises) with external clouds, and multi-cloud strategies that leverage multiple cloud services simultaneously.

Lee emphasized that the security threats amplified by AI acceleration cannot be contained at a single point. It’s imperative to break down silos between network and security operators and developers. This enables the operation of a unified platform capable of transmitting and defending applications within a cohesive environment.

To address these challenges, F5 plans to enhance its security framework by forging partnerships with global tech giants like NVIDIA and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Nalapan revealed that F5 has acquired the security firm SurePass AI to establish an intelligent defense system. SurePass AI specializes in detecting and controlling unauthorized AI usage by company employees.

He predicted that over the next decade, companies that truly understand AI-based app delivery and control points, rather than merely adopting large language models (LLMs), will gain a significant competitive edge.

F5 is set to host F5 AppWorld Seoul 2026 on Wednesday, featuring industry experts, including engineers from NVIDIA and AWS.
