LifestyleLuka Modrić Extends AC Milan Contract: What This Means for His Legacy

At the age of 41, Luka Modrić has inked a one-year contract extension with AC Milan, prolonging his illustrious career in professional soccer.

AC Milan officially announced on Friday that they have secured Modrić’s services for another year, extending his tenure with the club until June 1, 2027.

Following his departure from Real Madrid last summer and subsequent one-year deal with AC Milan, Modrić’s future had been uncertain. Many speculated that he might hang up his boots after the 2026 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Cup.

However, the Croatian maestro silenced doubters with his stellar performances during the World Cup, showcasing his enduring stamina and skill. This impressive display has led to his decision to continue his journey with AC Milan for another season.

Modrić, the 2018 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball winner and Ballon d’Or recipient, enjoyed a stellar 13-year stint at Real Madrid. During his time with the Spanish giants, he clinched the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League title 6 times and La Liga 4 times.

In his debut season with AC Milan, Modrić proved he still has plenty left in the tank. He featured in 34 league matches, netting 2 goals and providing 3 assists, demonstrating that class is indeed permanent.

Upon signing the extension, an elated Modrić said that he’s thrilled to continue his journey with AC Milan. From day one, he’s felt welcomed and appreciated here. He added that while last season didn’t meet the expectations, he’s determined to bounce back stronger.

The midfield maestro continued that he’s committed to giving his all for AC Milan. He can’t wait to step onto the San Siro pitch again and hear the roar of the fantastic fans.

In other news, following a disappointing fifth-place finish in Serie A last season and missing out on 2026-27 UEFA Champions League qualification, AC Milan has parted ways with manager Massimiliano Allegri. They’ve appointed Ruben Amorim, who previously led Manchester United, as their new head coach.
