Samsung SDS is set to join Daybreak, a cybersecurity collaboration program leveraging OpenAI’s frontier artificial intelligence (AI) model. This marks a first for South Korean companies. Samsung SDS aims to expand its cybersecurity operations through this initiative.
On Tuesday, Samsung SDS hosted the AI Transformation (AX) conference Real Summit 2026 at COEX in Seoul, where they unveiled their participation in the OpenAI Daybreak Partner Program during the keynote address.
Daybreak is designed to enhance the entire cybersecurity process using OpenAI’s frontier model. It improves vulnerability detection, impact assessment, risk prioritization, security patch development and testing, and final verification. The program aims to accelerate the complete remediation cycle, from identifying software vulnerabilities to validation, risk evaluation, patch creation, testing, and deployment.
Samsung SDS will serve as a pilot partner for Daybreak. The company plans to roll out AI security services that automatically detect and verify security vulnerabilities for clients using OpenAI’s next-gen frontier model, while also providing patch solutions.
In a video message, OpenAI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sam Altman praised Samsung SDS as a top-tier global partner, citing their deep understanding of real-world business operations and their ability to successfully implement cutting-edge technologies.
Altman added that South Korea possesses all the elements needed to become a global AI powerhouse, including exceptional tech talent, world-class infrastructure, robust government support, and a diverse business landscape. He expressed OpenAI’s commitment to partnering with Samsung SDS to help Korean firms build on this foundation and spearhead the next phase of global AI development.
Samsung SDS also announced the full-scale launch of its Physical AI-based manufacturing robot transformation (RX) project and the upcoming October release of its AI-powered collaboration platform, BriTWorks CoWork.
Samsung SDS CEO Lee Jun-hee emphasized that AX represents a fundamental shift beyond merely implementing AI to cut costs and save time.
