NOUL has inked a deal with an Indonesian medical device distributor to supply its artificial intelligence (AI) powered cervical cancer diagnostic solution, miLab CER, the company announced on Thursday.
This agreement marks NOUL’s strategic entry into Indonesia’s cervical cancer screening market. The company aims to leverage this opportunity to expand its global cancer diagnostics business, with plans to explore tailored solutions for key Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) nations’ healthcare landscapes.
Under this inaugural Indonesian contract for miLab CER, NOUL will gradually deliver at least 50 units to local medical facilities and laboratory chains over a three-year period.
To broaden miLab CER’s footprint in Indonesia, NOUL is partnering with firms that boast extensive hospital and screening center networks, as well as expertise in medical device distribution and regulatory affairs. The company also intends to tap into the public procurement sector in the future.
Notably, NOUL has been proactively securing regulatory approvals for miLab CER in major Southeast Asian markets, including the Philippines and Vietnam, since last year. This groundwork has positioned the company to make significant inroads into the ASEAN medical diagnostics arena.
Indonesia, home to roughly 280 million people, represents Southeast Asia’s largest healthcare market. Cervical cancer is a pressing health concern, ranking as the second most common cancer among Indonesian women. The country sees approximately 37,000 new cases and over 20,000 deaths annually, underscoring the substantial healthcare burden.
In response to this challenge, the Indonesian government has announced plans to incorporate cervical cancer screenings into its free health check-up program starting in 2026. This initiative aims to extend screenings to about 68 million women aged 30 to 69.
Lim Chan-yang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NOUL, emphasized the significance of this contract, stating that this agreement marks a pivotal moment in the expansion of cancer diagnostics across Southeast Asia. It’s committed to increasing the availability of the cervical cancer diagnostic solutions, carefully considering the unique healthcare landscapes and market needs of each country.
