On October 17, singer-songwriter EJAE, renowned for her work on the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters (KDEH) soundtrack, exchanged vows with producer Samuel Kim (Sam Kim) at a venue steeped in memories of her grandfather, veteran actor Shin Young-kyun.
Fashion magazine Vogue and EJAE took to Instagram on Tuesday to share snapshots from their wedding ceremony, which took place at Stage 28 in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul.
Vogue revealed that EJAE and Sam Kim’s paths first crossed in 2017 during a creative collaboration. Their professional relationship blossomed into romance when Sam Kim confessed his feelings. While the couple initially planned a November wedding in the United States, they opted for an earlier celebration in Seoul, officially becoming husband and wife.
The wedding venue, Stage 28, holds special significance as it stands on the former estate of EJAE’s grandfather, Shin Young-kyun, and houses the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation. EJAE reminisced that her grandparents lived there when she was a little girl.
The released photos capture EJAE in a pristine white wedding gown, beaming alongside Sam Kim as they receive well-wishes from guests. In one shot, EJAE radiantly lifts her bouquet high, while Sam Kim expresses his joy with a triumphant fist pump.
Another image showcases the newlyweds sharing a kiss amidst the cheers of their guests. The couple also turned heads by donning traditional Korean wedding attire for part of the celebration.
EJAE’s talents extend beyond her recent nuptials. She not only penned and composed the soundtrack for the Netflix animated series KPop Demon Hunters but also lent her voice to the performances. The show has garnered critical acclaim, sweeping major awards including Best Animated Feature and Best Director at the 53rd Annie Awards, Best Animated Feature and Best Song at the 31st Critics’ Choice Awards, similar accolades at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, Best Soundtrack at the 68th Grammy Awards, and Best Animated Feature and Best Song at the 98th Academy Awards. The series’ success culminated in Song of the Year at the 2026 American Music Awards.
