BTS has set another record in Japan.

According to the Reiwa Ranking announced by Oricon in Japan on the 12th, BTS’s single CD “Butter,” released in July 2021, has topped the Aggregate Single Ranking in terms of sales per work. This ranking was calculated based on sales in Japan from May 2019 to January 2024. BTS is the first foreign artist to top the Aggregate Single Ranking in the Oricon Reiwa Ranking.

The single CD “Butter” includes the title track of the same name that BTS released in May 2021, a new song “Permission to Dance,” and instrumental versions of both songs. This album has achieved over 3.2 million streams and over 230,000 digital single sales during the ranking period, earning a total of 3,434,886 points.

In this ranking, the only works to gain over 3 million points were “Butter” and “Racing into the Night,” released by the Japanese mixed-gender band YOASOBI in 2019. BTS has once again proven its unparalleled popularity by topping the Aggregate Single Ranking and surpassing YOASOBI.

In addition, BTS’s single “Dynamite,” released in August 2020, ranked fourth in this chart with 2,897,165 points.
