Actress Han So Hee has clarified suspicions about being accepted to a French university.

On the 27th, a netizen shared a DM (message) they had received from Han So Hee. In her candid explanation about her remarks on being accepted to a French university, Han So Hee clarified, “The exam question types for art school admissions, such as idea and transition, didn’t align with my strengths, so I decided to pursue my studies by creating a portfolio, leading me to give up on Korean universities.”

She said, “At first, I dared to dream of attending Central Saint Martins and Parsons without knowing my reality. After hearing that it would cost KRW 100 million (approximately $72,740) per year, I chose Beaux-Arts. However, since I wasn’t attending a university in Korea, there was no way I could get a loan.”

She added, “Back then, I needed KRW 20 to 30 million (approximately $17,000 to $25,000) in my bank account, and the rent and living expenses were ridiculously insufficient. I started again when I was 20 years old, so I had to spend everything I earned from part-time jobs in the agency for studying abroad, so it was like pouring water into a bottomless bucket. The story was misinterpreted when it was edited in the variety show.”

Previously, in an online variety show, Na Young Seok’s Babbling, released last January, Han So Hee talked about her academic background as only having a high school diploma and said, “I was accepted to a school (university) but didn’t attend. I was accepted to a French school but couldn’t go because I didn’t have KRW 60 million (approximately $50,000) in my bank account in my name. I couldn’t get a visa.”

This misunderstanding among netizens, that Han So Hee’s remarks about being accepted to a French university were a lie, arose from a lack of awareness about the financial requirements for a French student visa.
