SM Entertainment (after this SM), represented by CEO Jang Cheol Hyuk and Tak Young Jun, announced on the 12th that the growth process of their first boy group launching in the U.K. will be showcased through BBC.

SM has unveiled its first boy group in the U.K., a five-member ensemble designed to capture international markets, particularly in Europe and the United States. The group was formed through a collaboration between SM and Kakao Entertainment’s North American subsidiary, alongside UK-based Moon&Back Media.

Moon & Back Media handled the casting of the group’s members directly in the U.K., while SM contributed its expertise in K-pop music, choreography, vocals, and more. This collaboration sets the stage for a dynamic debut.

Looking ahead, SM and Kakao Entertainment plan to accelerate their global strategy by producing more local IP projects like this initiative and expanding their networks with key partners worldwide.

SM’s first U.K. boy group, scheduled to debut later this year, will be featured in a six-episode TV series on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this summer. The series Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience is expected to captivate global music enthusiasts. It aims to attract viewers both in the U.K. and worldwide, showcasing the group’s growth journey and the vibrant world of K-pop.

The TV series captures 100 days of rigorous training and development for the U.K. boy group in Seoul, documenting their evolution in K-pop. SM’s Artist Development Center managed the casting and training, working alongside renowned choreographers and composers from around the globe to shape the group’s dynamic presence.

Nigel Hall, the co-founder of Moon&Back Media, emphasized, ” Forming a British boy band, schooling them through the unrivaled rigors of the K-pop process, and launching them on the global stage is creating both a world first and unmissable television.”

Meanwhile, Moon&Back (M&B), headquartered in London, U.K., boasts a robust global entertainment and TV production network.
