EtcNorth Korea Rallies Party Members for Massive Flood Recovery Efforts

Recently, party members were massively mobilized for flood recovery efforts in North Korea’s North Pyongan and Jagang provinces.

North Korea’s state-run newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported, “Since the announcement of the emergency expanded meeting of the 22nd Politburo of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party, party organizations at all levels across the party have been filled with a sincere desire from party members to volunteer. Party units from Pyongyang and various provinces are being swiftly organized and dispatched to disaster areas with high combat enthusiasm.”

Yesterday, a rally for Pyongyang party members being sent to flood recovery areas was held at the Pyongyang Gymnasium. Although the newspaper did not disclose the exact number of mobilized members, photos showing the crowded square suggest a large-scale deployment.

In the resolution discussion, speakers expressed, “For our party members, who have sworn endless loyalty to the party’s ideology and leadership, there is no greater honor than rushing ahead to the place called by our beloved General Secretary and dedicating oneself. They vowed to lead the battle for flood recovery courageously,” the newspaper reported.

At a meeting held at the flood site last week, Kim Jong Un announced the deployment of People’s Army units and the Baekdusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade to assist with flood recovery efforts. They plan to build over 4,400 households in Sinuiju and Uiju County. Also, in collaboration with the People’s Army, it was decided to permanently strengthen the embankments of island areas in North Pyongan Province.

The mobilization of party members, alongside the military and youth, underscores the severity of the damage and highlights the intention to complete the recovery efforts before the upcoming autumn harvest season.
