Hong 10 (Kim Hong Yul), a 40-year-old Dobong District Office Breaking Team member, will compete in the Breaking event at the Paris Olympics on August 10.

According to officials from Dobong District in South Korea, Hong 10 is the only South Korean breaking athlete participating in the Paris Olympics. He secured his spot in the Olympic finals by finishing second overall in the Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) held in May and June.

The men’s Breaking event will feature 16 athletes. The competition will progress from the Round of 16 to the finals within a single day.

Hong 10, placed in Group C, will face off against Jeffro (Jeffrey Louis) from the USA, Lee (Lee-Lou Demierre) from the Netherlands, and Lagaet (Gaëtan Alin) from France for a chance to advance to the quarterfinals. From the quarterfinals onward, the top two athletes from each group will compete in a knockout format.

Oh Wen Seok, Mayor of Dobong District, expressed community support by saying, “All the residents of Dobong District are united in cheering for Hong 10,” and added, “I hope he showcases his skills to the fullest on this dream stage.”
