The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) announced today that the Performance Verification Satellite (PVSAT), launched aboard the Nuri rocket during its second mission, has successfully completed its mission over the past two years.

Developed by AP Satellites with support from KARI, the Performance Verification Satellite has been operated jointly by both organizations.

The satellite verified the Nuri rocket’s payload insertion capabilities and successfully deployed a CubeSat into orbit.

Since its second launch on June 21, 2022, the Performance Verification Satellite has verified the satellite launch vehicle interface, provided vibration data during launch and separation, and confirmed the satellite’s orbital insertion.

The PVSAT conducted space verification for various South Korean technology payloads, including a thermoelectric generator developed by the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, an S-band antenna from Kespion, and an attitude control moment gyro from Justek.

KARI President Lee Sang Ryul stated, “We will continue to support the advancement and industrialization of Korean space technology through increased participation from domestic industries. We aim to enhance our technological capabilities and compete globally by securing verification records in space.”
