Following Kim Sae Ron’s death on Sunday, social media and online communities were flooded with tributes and expressions of grief. However, these condolences were often accompanied by screenshots of the harsh remarks she had faced during her lifetime.
One user had previously left a harsh comment on a YouTube video about Kim Sae Ron, saying, “Kim Sae Ron, the alcoholic. Don’t bother coming out after rehab. Your face is truly repulsive.”
Another commenter cynically remarked, “Did they not show her drinking on TV?” and “I guess no one realized back then how quickly she’d spiral,” adding, “The real issue was that guy saving her.”

As her career prospects dwindled, she took on part-time work at a café and small theater roles to make ends meet. The actress, who had been struggling with severe depression in the aftermath, was found dead at her home in Seoul’s Seongdong district on Sunday.
