North Korea held an expanded Cabinet Plenary Meeting on Thursday to review the implementation of its first-quarter economic plans, including policies for local development, according to the ruling party’s official newspaper Rodong Sinmun on Friday.

The meeting, led by Premier Pak Thae-song, was attended by Vice Premiers Kim Jong-gwan, Yang Sung-ho, and Pak Jong-gun; officials from Cabinet-affiliated agencies, ministries, and central institutions; chairpersons of provincial, city, and county people’s committees; agricultural guidance officials; and executives from major factories and enterprises.

Participants evaluated the implementation of economic tasks in the first quarter in accordance with the decisions made at the 11th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party, and discussed future measures.

In his report, Vice Premier Pak stated that the first local industrial plants created under the 20×10 Local Development Policy have marked the beginning of normalized production, and the all-people offensive momentum toward the 9th Party Congress has been greatly elevated. He added that proud achievements have been made in the implementation of the people’s economic plan during the first quarter.

He also analyzed Deficiencies and Deviations in some sectors’ performance, pointing out the need to intensify the struggle against the passive and self-preserving attitudes of the officials.

Particularly, the meeting emphasized the need to more thoroughly establish a well-organized system and order in which Cabinet directives are obeyed unconditionally in the leadership and management of economic affairs and called for a vigorous, unwavering struggle to implement the Party’s decisions, Rodong Sinmun reported.
