South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on Wednesday that 14,708 vehicles across 19 models from Jaguar Land Rover, Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai Motors), GS Global, and General Motors will be voluntarily recalled due to manufacturing defects.

The recall affects 10,878 units of 12 models, including the Jaguar Land Rover Discovery 4 3.0D. These vehicles may experience a failure of the towing hitch due to insufficient durability, which could potentially cause trailer separation during operation. The recall campaign will commence on July 4.

Hyundai Motors is recalling 2,555 units of two models, including the Elantra, due to a risk of passenger injury. The driver’s airbag inflator may rupture due to excessive internal pressure during deployment. This recall action began on June 10.

Starting July 19, Hyundai Motors will also recall 629 units of the County Electric model. A design flaw in the parking brake components could lead to a vehicle rolling away when parked on an incline.

GS Global is recalling 344 units of three models, including the NEW BYD eBus-12, beginning July 12. The high-voltage battery tray fasteners may have insufficient durability, potentially causing the battery cells to contact the tray during driving. This could result in insulation failure or fire risk.

General Motors will initiate a recall of 302 Lyriq models on July 27. A software error in the infotainment control unit may cause the instrument cluster and display to shut off unexpectedly.

Owners can check if their vehicle is subject to these recalls by entering their vehicle identification number (VIN) on the NHTSA’s website or contacting their local dealership for more information.
