North Korea’s complex beach resort, the Wonsan-Kalma Coastal Tourist Zone in Gangwon Province, opened its doors on Tuesday.
The Workers’ Party newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported on its second page that a spectacular scene of laughter and romance unfolded on the ten-mile beach of the Wonsan-Kalma Coastal Tourist Zone, a national treasure on the East Sea. The article noted that while countless workers from across the country were eager to visit this unparalleled tourist destination, many guests had already set up camp there on the very first day of operations.
The report continued, stating that as people enthusiastically enjoyed the latest colorful beach items, endless cheers of exhilaration filled the air. The newspaper also published photos of residents enjoying the beach.
The front page featured a special article titled “Let’s Boldly Strive for the Great Victory of 2025,” urging residents to fulfill the goals set during the 12th Plenary Session of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party.
Page 3 reported that a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Culture, led by Minister Olga Lyubimova, returned home on Tuesday. They had previously visited North Korea on June 28 to commemorate the first anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between North Korea and Russia.
