North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inspected the construction sites for the Wihwa Island Greenhouse Complex Farm and the permanent flood control embankments in Sinuiju, an area that suffered flooding last year.

The official newspaper of the Workers’ Party, Rodong Sinmun, reported on its front page on August 2 that Kim had expressed great satisfaction during his visit to the construction site the previous day. He noted that the greenhouse farm project—unprecedented in its scale, originality, and comprehensiveness—was progressing according to schedule.

Kim visited the permanent embankment construction site in the island district of Uiju County, emphasizing that the flooding once deemed an inevitable fate by local residents is now a thing of the past. He remarked that the area’s transformation rivals that of Pyongyang’s Daedong River Banks, with promenades and riverside parks emerging, describing it as an epoch-making transformation.
